Physician Exam List

Weekly MD/Resident Need List

The scheduling of physician exams begins with the Weekly MD/Resident Need List.  Before the planned visits for the groups of physicians to come to the facility, RNs and other staff members will take note of the patients that need to be seen for a concern, patients that requested to see the doctor, or patients that have had family members request for them to be seen.  We (medical records) take the list and make sure all of the RNs have their patient requests.

Addition of Required Exams

Dianne then looks up the patients that have required exams scheduled.  Each patient receives an initial exam, and then three more, each 30 days apart.  Patients need to have their exams within just a couple of days of their scheduled day.  The exams go as follows: Initial exam (for new admits, or changes of physician), 1st 30-Day Exam, 2nd 30-Day Exam, and 3rd 30-Day Exam.  After those, the patients have a routine exam every 60 days.  Dianne used to have a written log that she had to update so that she knew which patients needed to be seen.  She asked if I could make her a new one, after I finished with it, she then wanted to know if I could design it so that she could just input the information on the computer.  So, I did just that.  For more information on the process of upgrading the schedule log system, click on the button below.

The Final Physician's Exam List

Then, information about the listed patients is complied together, such as their room #, the type of exam and concerns, whether the patient is long-term (LT) or short-term (ST), and their most recently recorded vital signs.  This list is then distributed to the physicians, RNs, and whoever else has need of one.
