Amy Munns

My name is Amy Munns.  I am a Certified Coding Specialist, as well as a Registered Health Information Technician.  I earned an Associate’s Degree in Health Information Technology from DeVry University’s online education program.  It took self-motivation, and dedication to complete the degree earning the GPA of 4.0.  I took many courses, including ICD-10-CM, CPT Coding, Medical Terminology, Physiology and Anatomy, Pharmacology, and many more related to billing, coding and health information.

 

Our family recently relocated to Manassas, Virginia from Utah, due to my husband accepting a job offer there.  I had to leave my most recent position at Air Medical Resource Group, now known as Guardian Flight, LLC, as a Revenue Cycle Specialist.  The company provides emergent air ambulance transportation services.  I was there for just over a year and learned so much.  My duties mainly centered around billing and coding for Guardian Flight – Wyoming, and Gallup Med Flight.  I reviewed the records and documentation to assign diagnosis codes for the services provided on the flights to justify medical necessity; communicated with the crews regarding missing documentation or needed clarification;  trained new employees; reviewed and audited claims to Medicare and Medicaid to ensure they were sent out accurately and completely;  called insurance companies and checked online portals for insurance eligibility and verification; sent off HCFA 1500 forms to third-party payors; and anything else that my supervisor needed me to do, I learned and accomplished.

 

I have strong attention to detail, am thorough, and organized.  If I do not understand something, I research it until I do.  I ask questions and listen to answers.  I learn very quickly and seek full understanding.  I am very experienced with computers and the Internet and can quickly learn any software program that I need to accomplish my tasks.  I have been trained in 3M and have taken courses gained experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  For my most recent job I worked with ImageTrend and RescueNet software.
